God Doesn’t Miss A Thing

Proverbs 15:3 has been on my mind for a few weeks…

“The eyes of the Lord are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good.” (NIV)

“God doesn’t miss a thing – he’s alert to good and evil alike.” (MSG)

God doesn’t miss a thing; His eyes are everywhere. He is omnipresent – present in all places at all times. He is also omniscient – having unlimited understanding and knowledge, infinite awareness and insight. He sees everything AND knows everything – good and bad. He doesn’t miss a thing. We can’t put our hope in other people to be omnipresent and omniscient in our lives. God is the only One! He sees every triumph, every frustration. He hears each laugh, and catches each tear. When no one else understands what you’re going through, He does.

“God is always on the alert, constantly on the lookout for people who are totally committed to him.” – 2 Chronicles 16:9 (MSG)

“For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His.” (NASB)

God is constantly searching for those whose hearts are devoted to Him so that He can strengthen them. I want to share some Hebrew definitions with you… stick with me! The phrase “that He may strongly support” is the word chazaq, which means to strengthen, prevail, be courageous, be firm, be resolute, be secure, to restore to strength, encourage, to make bold, to support, to repair, to take hold of, to keep hold of, hold up, sustain. The word “completely” – in reference to those whose hearts are completely His – is the Hebrew word shalem, meaning complete, safe, peaceful, perfect, whole, full, at peace, finished, unharmed, complete – of keeping covenant relation.

God wants our hearts and lives to be completely His, not pulled in a million other directions. And God – the maker of Heaven and Earth – wants to strongly support you! He knows that we will have trouble and heartache in this world. He sees it all! But He wants to be there for YOU… to make you bold again, to restore you to strength, to make you firm and secure in Him. He wants to pick you up with His arms that are not too short to save, and He wants to hold you in the palm of His hand so that you can rest in His unfailing love. He wants to repair your broken heart so that it’s whole again. And He wants us to run to Him, not to the things of this world.

My husband and I love Bethel’s new worship album, We Will Not Be Shaken. It’s amazing! You can get more info about it here: http://bethelmusic.com/we-will-not-be-shaken/. There is one song in particular that has been resonating in my heart. It’s called “You Don’t Miss A Thing” by Amanda Cook. I encourage you to take a listen before reading on! Here’s the YouTube link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OzXgO7UfRHs

Part of the chorus says, “What a mystery that You notice me, and in a crowd of ten thousand You don’t miss a thing.” God sees the crowd but He also sees the individual. You… me… each and every one of us. Just like Proverbs 15:3 says, He doesn’t miss anything. He doesn’t miss anyone! Nothing escapes His eye. Nothing you’re going through is too big or too much for Him; not one thing is too small or seemingly insignificant.

The song goes into a “spontaneous” section and I love the lyrics that unfold…

“I am seen and I am known by the King of Kings and Lord of Lords”

“There’s no place I can go where Your love won’t find me, no place I can hide that You don’t see, no place I could fall where Your love couldn’t catch me, You see it all, You see it all through the eyes of love”

“You’re in everything, You’re all around me”

“When I’m misunderstood, Your love understands me”

I could listen to that song and reread those lyrics all day! There is power in knowing and believing that God is in our midst and that He is delighted to be with us!

“Don’t be afraid. Dear Zion, don’t despair. Your God is present among you, a strong Warrior there to save you. Happy to have you back, He’ll calm you with his love and delight you with His songs.” – Zephaniah 3:16-17 (MSG)

It’s my hope and prayer this week that this truth will encourage you. God sees you, He knows everything about you, and He loves you! It’s a truth that we need to remind ourselves of daily… God wants to be involved in every part of our lives, in every part of our day. Why? Because He cares about us! He desires to know us and be known by us. He wants our hearts to be completely committed to Him and to be at peace. He wants to be our strong support, our source of strength.

“So – who is like me? Who holds a candle to me?” says The Holy. Look at the night skies: who do you think made all this? Who marches this army of stars out each night, counts them off, calls each by name – so magnificent! so powerful! – and never overlooks a single one? Why would you ever complain, O Jacob, or, whine, Israel, saying, “God has lost track of me. He doesn’t care what happens to me”? Don’t you know anything? Haven’t you been listening? God doesn’t come and go. God lasts. He’s Creator of all you can see or imagine. He doesn’t get tired out, doesn’t pause to catch his breath. And he knows everything, inside and out. He energizes those who get tired, gives fresh strength to dropouts. For even young people tire and drop out, young folk in their prime stumble and fall. But those who wait upon God get fresh strength. They spread their wings and soar like eagles, they run and don’t get tired, they walk and don’t lag behind.  – Isaiah 40:25-31 (MSG)
